I just ordered Gene's book from you. I hope that little bit does something small to help.

Have you determined the method by which this stuff shall be auctioned? Will there be a site, somewhere, with the master list of goodies?

JOHN: Thank you!

ADAM: ComicLink.com will handle the auction. I just updated the blog to mention that. I'll post dates and items as they arrive.

Cliff - I tried to email you last night when I heard about this, but I'm not sure if I have the right contact email. And I can't seem to find a link of who to contact about donating to this auction on your blog. Please put up some information about who to contact and how.

Is there any way to just make a donation by PayPal?

I bought the Treasury at Aardwolf, but is there any way to just make a cash donation?

ED: Contact info has been added to the site.

CLINT: We are not taking cash donations from individuals. Wait for the auction and bid on something, or order one of my books from Aardwolfpublishing.com and the Colans will get the proceeds. If you don't like the book, you can use it as a doorstop.

Hi. So who wasnt influenced by Gene. I know I was and have never had the opportunity to meet him. I will donate a signed piece of TRANSFORMERS art.

Have you thought about raffling off one of your better pieces from thsi auction? For every guy that can $500 for something there are probably 200 that will pay $10 for a chance to win it.

Just a thought.

Yoo-hoo! Marvel! Anybody home?

Perhaps DC will step in to help. After all, Gene worked for them for a bit.

Alan--
There's no doubt in my mind that Marvel will help. It's just a matter of how much and when.

It's really sad that these great artists are so ignored in their later years by by the very companies that they enriched by the works that they have created. It's pathetic, really.
Where is Stan Lee? Has he any leverage at all to provide Gene with some type of health coverage? It must be very humbling to Gene indeed to have to rely on the handouts of fans instead of getting the help he needs from the companies. My heart goes out to Gene and his family, who are in my prayers.

As always, Stan Lee was the FIRST to respond to my call for help.

I've just ordered two copies of the book. My very best wishes to Gene and Adrienne Colan.

Cliff - Two questions.
We would love to donate some of my wife's CDs to the effort, but they really don't fit the category, nor do my photos. Other than simply bidding for auction items, has any consideration been given to other artists who might want to donate auctionable material?
Secondly, I've just been to the Comiclink.com page and don't see any reference to the Colan auction -- do we just get a list from somewhere and go to comiclink to bid?

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Colan's health problems. In the 70s I always loved Mr. Colan's unique artistic style. His detailed work and moody style were beautiful. He was a real craftsman.
Ironically, I just bought the Essential Howard the Duck. I've read the first ten issues so far, and enjoyed them immensely.
My next Essential will be Tomb of Dracula. His art looks so much better in B&W.

CD's? Not sure what you mean...

"I've just been to the Comiclink.com page and don't see any reference to the Colan auction."

Be patient.

Let this be a wake up call ( yet again ) that health care should not have to be left up to charity. For the love of god people, always vote for people who're for universal health care. It works in the rest of the western world and actually costs them less. Do this, and you won't need to have people beg for charity when they get ill ever again.

To Gene's fans and colleagues:

I'm on my fourth attempt to find the words to express my gratitude to you. Our gratitude.

Our current challenges are dwarfed by your generousity, love and respect for Gene. It means even more to be coming from men and women of great accomplishment in their own right. You've all enriched our life throughout Gene's six decades in Comics.
Thank you all dear friends.
